Guardia di Finanza confirm 2 assets for airshow
21 June 2012
After last week's news about the participation of the Guardia di Finanza Piaggio P-166DL3, we can now confirm that an AgustaWestland A-109Nexus helicopter will be joining the Piaggio 166 in the static line-up for this year’s Malta International Airshow.
The Guardia di Finanza is an Italian law enforcement agency under the authority of the Minister of Economy and Finance and part of the Italian armed forces. The Guard is essentially responsible for dealing with financial crime and smuggling. The Guardia di Finanza maintains more than 100 aircraft to serve in its mission of patrolling Italy'sterritorial waters.
One of these aircraft is the Piaggio Aero Industries P-166DL3. The Piaggio P.166 is a twin-engine pusher-type utility aircraft, and is used by the Guardia di Finanza as a medium range maritime patrol aircraft.
In the rotary wing of the GdiF, the AgustaWestland A-109Nexus is tasked with patrol, search, exploration and recognition, its missions take place around the Italian territory on land and even on sea.
The Malta Aviation Society is extremely grateful to the Guardia di Finanza for agreeing to participate at the Malta International Airshow 2012 with a P-166DL3 and A-109N in the static display.
