1(F) Squadron back to Malta ... this time with Typhoons
11 September 2015
The Royal Air Force's 1(F) Squadron has confirmed its participation in this year's edition of the Malta International with two Eurofighter Typhoon jets in the static display.
2008 saw the last time that 1(F) Squadron aircraft visited our island. It was then equipped with the Harrier jump-jet but this time it is equipped with Britain’s most capable fighter/bomber. The squadron reformed on the type just two years ago and is based at RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland.
The pair of Typhoons will be joining the static line up at ex-RAF Luqa. The Typhoon FGR4 provides the RAF with a highly capable and extremely agile multi-role combat aircraft, capable of being deployed in the full spectrum of air operations, including air policing, peace support and high intensity conflict.
Gulf Helicopters have also confirmed its participation with an AW-189 in the static line up. The AW-189 is based in Luqa for company operations offshore Malta.
The Malta Aviation Society welcomes again the Royal Air Force; a long time supporter of the Malta International Airshow. We are also delighted that the Qatari based Gulf Helicopters has accepted our invitation.
