The United States Air Forces in Europe is sending a C-130 Hercules from the 86th Airlift Wing based in Ramstein, Germany. The C-130J is the newest version of the famous C-130 Family and the C-130 J is nicknamed the Super Hercules.

The Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built by Lockheed, now Lockheed Martin. Capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation, and cargo transport aircraft and different versions of this very successful aircraft now perform various roles. The Hercules, in its various versions has been in production since the 1950’s and has the record of the longest continuous production run of any military aircraft in history.

The Malta Aviation Society is grateful for the USAFE participation in this year's edition of the Malta International Airshow and the assistance provided by the Defense Attache’ Office at the US Embassy in Malta.

The aircraft will be in the static display line-up at this year’s airshow.
