German Navy to represent Germany
04 May 2013
The German Navy has confirmed that it will be participating in this year's Airshow with a Dornier 228MR coming from Marinefliegergeschwader 3 (MFG3) based at Nordholz.
The squadron has three of these aircraft.
This maritime aircraft is tasked for pollution control, in particular oil spills, over the Baltic Sea and North Sea. The aircraft, which entered service with the German Navy in 1982, can fly high over large and remote areas using airborne sensor systems to detect pollution and collect a range of atmospheric data.
The organising committee of The Malta International Airshow is delighted with the participation of the German Navy at this year's Airshow after it last participated in the 2009 edition.
